Tumor Treatment

Kubanda Cryotherapy is a cryoablation technology, which kills cells through the formation of intracellular ice crystals. Our custom-designed cryosystem consists of a cryoprobe and a gas-control module that fits perfectly into your general veterinary workflows. The Kubanda Cryotherapy system creates freezing cycles that your vet can use to shrink and kill tumors at the point of care. During the procedure, your pet’s skin is protected against the cold while the probe is inserted into the tumor to freeze and kill the unwanted tissue. Kubanda Cryotherapy can be used in cosmetic bumps, palliation, debulking, and tumors and offers faster healing than surgery, chemo, or radiation.

Key Features

Minimally Invasive Treatment
Destroy tumor cells with targeted freezing, while preserving surrounding healthy tissue. A perfect option for pets that aren't ideal surgical candidates. Kubanda treats both dermal and larger and deeper (subcutaneous) masses with a small cryoprobe, allowing for a simple, point of care treatment for benign and cancerous masses. This allows pets to skip the scalpel with a minimally-invasive procedure at a fraction of the cost of surgery.

Outpatient-Friendly
Perform treatments under sedation or local anesthesia, no need for full surgical suites or extended recovery time. Most pets go home the same day.

Precise Tumor Ablation
Cryoablation offers controlled, localized treatment of small tumors. Ideal for benign or low-grade malignancies in dogs, cats, and exotic species.

Affordable Cancer Care
Give pet owners a cost-effective alternative to traditional cancer treatments like surgery or radiation, without compromising on results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy offers an affordable, minimally invasive alternative to surgical excision. Surgery to remove a tumor can be time and resource intensive, often requires a large incision, and is painful to the patient. With cryotherapy, you can provide high-quality care in less time. The Kubanda Cryoprobe procedure reduces that complexity to a single needle puncture, creating significantly lower costs and considerably less follow-up. Pets go home after the procedure and are back to playing the next day, leaving without the need for heavy pain relief, home care, or frequent check-ins from your office. Additionally, immunological benefits from cryonecrosis may be achieved in treated animals

How does cryotherapy work?

The Kubanda Cryotherapy system is designed to harness the cooling power of carbon dioxide through the JouleThomson Effect; cooling occurs when the gas is throttled from a high to low-pressure chamber, intracellular and extracellular ice crystals will form rapidly around the Cryoneedle tip to cause cellular dehydration and ischemia. The ice ball formed during this process will envelop the targeted tissue, resulting in a “cold injury” that effectively necroses the tissue.

Is there a standard protocol for administering the dosages?

We will provide recommended dosages for various tumors during training, but the final treatment protocol is at the discretion of the veterinarian. No more than 4 areas should be treated during any one appointment.
